HTMS Motor Starter utilizes zero-crossing thyristor-switched capacitor (TSC) technology to solve unacceptable voltage drop problem during direct on line (DOL) start for large induction motor on an weak transmission line.
The inrush reactive current causing the voltage drop will be compensated locally by the HTMS system and normal starting torque can be guaranteed.
Challenges of Large Induction Motor Starting
In weak networks as in mining sites, gas and oil sites, pipe line pumping stations, during the start-up process of large induction motors, the following issues can be noted:
Failed motor starts due to voltage sags
Undervoltage tripping of sensitive loads
Lighting flicker and HID lighting shutdown
Overloaded distribution equipment
